The School of St Jude
Education That Breaks the Cycle of Poverty
At Uniting Heart and Soul, our mission has always been to embody God’s love through action, to stand alongside those striving for justice, dignity, and opportunity. One of the ways we live out that calling is by supporting The School of St Jude in Tanzania, founded in 2002 by Australian humanitarian Gemma Sisia.

St Jude’s provides free, high-quality education to more than 1,800 bright students from some of the poorest communities in the country. What began with one woman’s vision has grown into a thriving, multi-campus school employing over 300 Tanzanian staff, offering boarding for all secondary students, and reaching over 20,000 studentsannually through community teaching programs.

But education at St Jude’s is about far more than academics. It’s about empowerment, nurturing a generation of ethical, compassionate leaders who will help lift their communities out of poverty and shape a more just and equitable Tanzania.

Why this matters

At Uniting Heart and Soul, we believe that faith must move beyond words, that love should be lived. Supporting St Jude’s reflects our commitment to education as a pathway to freedom, justice as an act of faith, and community as the heart of transformation.

Our partnership reminds us that while we may live worlds apart, we are bound by shared humanity and the conviction that every child deserves the chance to learn, dream, and lead. It is a tangible expression of what Jesus called us to do: to love our neighbour and to lift one another up.

Through fundraising, prayer, and ongoing awareness, our church community plays a small but meaningful role in sustaining this extraordinary mission, ensuring that education continues to be a light in places where hope can be hard to find.
